Amyloid‐Templated Palladium Nanoparticles for Water Purification by Electroreduction

Electrocatalysis offers great promise for water purification but is limited by low active area and high uncontrollability of electrocatalysts. To overcome these constraints, we propose hybrid bulk electrodes synthesizing binding a Pd nanocatalyst (nano-Pd) to the via amyloid fibrils (AFs). The AFs template effective controlling nucleation, growth, assembly nano-Pd on electrode. In addition, three-dimensional hierarchically porous nanostructure beneficial loading high-density with large area. novel cathodes exhibit superior electroreduction performance detoxification hexavalent chromium (Cr6+), 4-chlorophenol, trichloroacetic acid in wastewater drinking water. This study provides proof-of-concept design an AFs-templated nano-Pd-based electrode, which constitutes paradigm shift electrocatalytic purification, broadens horizon its potential engineered applications.
